We connect those who need funding with those willing to fund alongside us, nurturing genuine partnership and collaboration. Together, we learn what works, adapt as things evolve and help meaningful change grow.
Family philanthropy sits at the heart of the Wates Family Enterprise Trust. Eight family members serve as trustees, supported by a small, expert team who manage our funding and – most importantly – build relationships with the people and organisations working across our core themes. Together, staff and trustees ensure the Trust funds and nurtures meaningful, lasting support for communities nationwide.
For many families, temporary accommodation is not just a housing issue, it shapes childhood itself. Frequent moves disrupt schooling, access to healthcare is inconsistent and the conditions many families face can harm both physical and mental health.

Fourteen organisations are now meeting regularly, building an action-learning space where stronger family engagement is becoming the foundation for more inclusive education.
